Moultrie-Colquitt County Development Authority Awarded $2.975 Million Federal Grant for Citizens Business Park Improvements

July 8, 2026 (MOULTRIE, GA)

The Moultrie-Colquitt County Development Authority (MCCDA) has been awarded a $2,975,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) to fund critical infrastructure improvements at Citizens Business Park. The grant will fund essential infrastructure needed to support manufacturing projects, including roadway construction, drainage enhancements, gravity sewer, water and natural gas line extensions, electrical conduit installation, and a stormwater retention pond.

Moultrie-Colquitt County Development Authority Chairman Ross Dekle said, “This federal grant is another significant step in our long-term commitment to the full development of Citizens Business Park. As we are currently making substantial infrastructure investments in the southern portion of the park, this funding allows us to continue that momentum by extending critical infrastructure to support a committed project and position the remainder of the park for future economic development opportunities. It’s an investment that will benefit our community for years to come.”

The Moultrie-Colquitt County Development Authority was one of only a select group of recipients announced in this latest round of funding nationwide and the only one in Georgia.

“Local and state leaders have invested in the growth of manufacturing for Southwest Georgia through the development of Citizens Business Park in Moultrie. This announcement and investment at the federal level from the U.S. Economic Development Administration will go toward the final infrastructure improvements needed to bring this project, along with the jobs and economic growth that accompany it, to fruition,” said U.S. Representative Austin Scott.

Amy Johnson, President of the Moultrie-Colquitt County Development Authority, was thrilled when she received the news.  “MCCDA has spent decades working to position this site for success, and this investment helps move us closer to generating long term economic growth for Moultrie-Colquitt County.”

“This grant is a game changer for Citizens Business Park and for the future of economic development in Colquitt County,” said State Senator Sam Watson. “By investing in the infrastructure needed to serve new industry, we are creating opportunities for future generations and continuing to build a stronger economy for the South Georgia region. Thank you to Austin Scott and his team for their support.”

EDA grants are awarded through a competitive process based on project merit, applicant eligibility, and funding availability. The Citizens Business Park Site Improvements Project was selected for funding because of its potential to support economic growth, improve site readiness, and attract future investment to South Georgia.

Representative Chas Cannon commented, “I want to congratulate the MCCDA on their persistent efforts in the development of Citizens Business Park.   Over the years, there has been a good collaboration between the County, the City, and the MCCDA to prepare the site at CBP for development and this grant award reaffirms those efforts. I also want to thank the office of Congressman Austin Scott for their efforts in securing this competitive grant award. This is a win-win for our community and for our taxpayers.”

On behalf of the MCCDA, Johnson would also like to thank United States Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and the Economic Development Administration for recognizing the potential of our community and making this investment possible for Moultrie and Colquitt County.

Construction timelines and additional project details will be announced as the project moves forward.
